My dog and I

I am blogging about my experience with home made dog food. My dog wiley and I went on a camping trip this weekend, i packed up a bunch of food for myself and of course plenty of dog food I whipped up for wiley.

It was a great time. We spent some time fishing, hiking etc. I met up with some friends on day two and they had brought along their black lab. I gave them a sample of the dog food I had made (maybe i am over proud of this : ) ) and their dog Abby seemed to enjoy it as much as any other dog food.

I spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with five or six friends and a few of their dogs in the western appalachin mountains enjoying the last half of the summer. Everyone who saw Wiley had a compliment about how nice his coat was. "Do you get him groomed?" they would ask. Nope. just my not so secret dog food recipe.

ANYWAYS, i had a great time and this home made dog food thing has been a great experience. I have gotten a few people on board and hopefully they have as much fun as I do

WILEY IS SO LIVELY!

Man I cant get over this I had to post about it. Wiley, my dog, seems so happy since I started giving him home made dog food. Its our little bonding time, he sits and watches while i whip up some treats for him. His gums are already starting to look a little better, most dogs have some sort of preventable gum disease.

The biggest difference i have noticed so far is his coat. Very shiny and strong, and he stopped shedding quite so much. I spend alot of time with Wiley and I am very excited about this. I could probably ramble for hours.

If your into your dog as much as I am, you need to get on board with this. God knows what kind of corn filler is in your dogs current dog food. I wouldnt wanna eat fast food every day. Thats what store bought dog food reminds me of.

There are all kinds of reasons why i switched from store bought food to making my own food for Wiley. As a health and fitness speacialist it hit me one day, if organic is good for humans, its got to be good for dogs too. Then I thought about the natural foods that dogs eat, well lets see, wild dogs eat mostly meat. Although Wiley might enjoy it, he's not getting steak everyday!!

So i started making dog food from scratch. Most people I know say, "your crazy, its just a dog". But if your reading this I assume your a pet lover and I hope you can relate when i was baffled by these statements. I mean, my dog isnt just my freind, but my responsibility and my loved one.

I noticed a big change in Wiley's mood within about a week. HE awoke earlier than i did instead of stretching out and getting up a few minutes after me. He acted just like a human does once they start eating healthy and exercising, it was awesome.
